Meet the Team

Michelle Desrochers, MH, MS, LMHC

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Founder/Therapist

Counseling provides an opportunity to catch your breath and develop the tools needed to move forward leaving a difficult past behind. Even when the past is painful, counseling can help clients to see beyond the pain and provide a path to healing. This is especially true for children that have experienced trauma, loss and struggle with emotion regulation. I believe in working with the family to repair relationships which is essential for not only helping the children but to also help parents and caregivers heal from generational trauma.

As a Christian I welcome the opportunity to incorporate Christian Counseling into therapy upon a client’s request. As a retired military officer, I have a special interest in working with clients struggling with military related issues, PTSD and Trauma. I also love working with children and their families. There are awful things that happen to children and although I wish this wasn’t the case, I am so honored to be a part of the healing process. I am EMDR Certified and incorporate Theraplay, CPP and trauma focused principles into therapy.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Life is beautiful yet challenging at times. When faced with difficulties in life and/or trauma, one seeks to survive and oftentimes utilizes unhealthy coping skills which then leads to more challenges. You don’t have to face the challenges alone. I am passionate about providing a safe place and walking with you on your journey to wholeness.

I am a licensed clinical social worker, trained in Play Therapy, TBRI, and Trauma-Focused CBT. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and have received additional, specialized training in working with complex trauma and children. My specialties include mood and anxiety disorders, trauma/PTSD, and I have experience in working with children and adolescents and helping them heal from their past sexual abuse. I enjoy working with clients individually and in groups. It is never too late to begin therapy. For adults who have experienced past trauma, you do not have to be bound by your past pain and feel stuck in a life of fear, guilt, loneliness, and shame and still be a victim to the intrusive thoughts and memories of your past. I am hopeful that you can live a life of freedom and I would be honored and privileged to help guide you in identifying and processing your past trauma, so you can be free to focus on your present and future goals.

“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” – Maya Angelou
Are you a teen or adult struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, abuse, or adjustments in life? Maybe you’re having difficulties with work, school, or relationships? Or do you just feel stuck dealing with life’s challenges? Do you find yourself saying, “I just don’t know what else to do to stop feeling this way?” Success in life is about problem identification and resolution, resilience, and using practical coping skills and strategies.

With a focus on trauma, I can help you find healing by identifying the root cause of troubling behaviors and the connected thoughts and emotions through an integrated approach informed by Psychodynamic Theory, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Expressive Arts, and Attachment Theory. This process allows me to listen to you, be nonjudgmental, teach skills, and provide support throughout the process. Together we will work to identify and define your challenges, set goals, learn interventions, and develop an individualized plan to move your life in the direction you want.
